Specifications
of YF-5055 CO Sensor
|
YF-5055 is a bipolar
electrochemical CO sensor. It directly transforms CO in the air into electric
current signals that are in linear ratio with the concentration of CO with
electrochemical reaction.
It is featured with small size; zero
consumption; high sensitivity; good gas selectivity; high resolution;
anti-interference; and long service life.
It is mainly used for the detection of carbon
monoxide (CO), and it outputs nA-level current signals that are in linear
ratio with the concentration of CO.

Output electrical characteristics of CO sensor:
|
The output current of YF-5055 for gas
detection may vary according to different sensors, of which the range mainly
falls in between 0.5-3.5nA/ppmCO. The product has to go through CO gas
calibration before use due to varying sensor output. Also, re-calibration of
CO concentration data is required before use in case a calibrated product
needs to change a sensor.
The following is the testing output data
of 5 samples:

|
Effects of ambient temperature/humidity on sensor:
|
YF-5055 sensor is mainly affected by
temperature instead of humidity in a working environment. It is of higher
output attenuation in low temperature environment, and the maximum
attenuation is 15% in case of -10℃, and
temperature compensation is normally required in case that the working
temperature is below zero.
Output temperature characteristics of 5PCS samples
in CO gas of 100PPM:

YF-5055 has no effects on 0 ~ 90%RH:

|
Effects of other gases:
|
YF-5055 imposes effects of a certain extent on chemical
gases such as hydrogen and ethyl alcohol. The ethyl alcohol resistance
performance is 5000PPM/1HOUR, and if being continuously affected by ethyl
alcohol gas above 5000PPM for more than an hour, the device may be vandalized
and the sensor may therefore maintain an output &#118alue for a certain period of
time, which may affect the detection &#118alue of CO together with CO detected
gas. Volatile chemicals such as gasoline, alcohol, oil paint, detergent,
thinner for rinsing and scrubbing.
|
Product service life:
|
Being an electrochemical sensor, YF-5055
is of longer service life, which is 10 years, but aging and attenuation may
appear in the output of gas detection. Attenuation rate: 5-15%/year; 10% aging
compensation is required per year when the product is designed to be used for
more than 10 years.

The interpretation of the serial number and date of
production of YF-5055 sensor:
|
YF-5055 sensor mainly uses inkjet code-spurting or laser
for coding. The definition of code is as follows:
Model: YF-5055
Code: Serial
code (4-digit 0001~9999) + Number of production group (1 digit) + Date
(6-digit)
Model
description: YF - COS2

|
Detection of the output signals of sensor:
|
After the reaction of CO gas, the output
of YF-5055 sensor is mainly current of 0.5-3.5nA/PPM, which is delivered to
the ADC of MCU for transformation after being amplified by operational
amplifier. In case that the ends of sensor are not spliced with resistance
below 1KΩ, a junction-type MOS tube shall be added to the sensor which is
used to release the charges stored in the sensor when the power is off.As
shown in the following image:
